In September and October the blueberry bushes turn a beautiful red color. In August, when Machias hosts its annual Blueberry Festival, the wild blueberries will be everywhere. Throughout the summer there are mosquitoes, like everywhere else in Maine, so bring bug spray. In mid to late June, there will be the most wildflowers, particularly lupine, and it’s quite a sight to see.
